Description:
Our client, Scottish and Southern Energy plc, is one of the UK's most diverse energy companies with over 9 Million customers across several brands. This post will be working for the team that is currently involved with a number of key transmission projects in Scotland, which are at various stages of the design and construction phases. As a Project Manager within the group, you will be responsible for managing a project team to successfully deliver the transmission projects to cost, exacting standards and to project timescales during the design and construction phases. Currently we are looking for a Project Manager with experience in the detailed design and construction of transmission(400/275/132kV) schemes involving overhead lines, substations and cables (subsea and land). You will also liaise with statutory and key consultees on design and construction aspects of these projects.
Qualifications:
- A professional qualification in Electrical Engineering
- Experience of managing transmission (400/275/132kV) overhead lines, substation or cable projects to time and budget
- Electrical design skills and construction experience associated with complex transmission projects including costing options and dealing with contractors and suppliers
- A robust understanding of health and safety requirements including a working knowledge of Construction (Design and Management Regulations)
- An understanding of project tender documents and knowledge of purchasing procedures
- The abilitly to formulate detailed specifications for transmission projects
- Conversant with plant and equipment standards and specifications for transmission overhead lines, substations or cables
- Relevant operational experience for the preparation of stage by stage diagrams for outage and contingency planning purposes
- Good computer skills and excellent communications skills
- You must be adaptable, self motivated and flexible as you will be required to work away from base location. A full driving licence is required.
