Our client, a leading integrated energy company who operate and manage a portfolio of coal, gas and biomass-fired power stations throughout the UK.

Royle Recruitment Limited have worked with and been a strategic partner of their Technical Support Group since its inception in the early nineties. The Outage Section of the business has a history of successfully completing a large number of Steam and Gas Turbine outages internally and for external customers. The Outage Section teams travel extensively throughout the UK and Overseas working on large turbo-generators, CCGT’s, Hydro, CHP plants and power plant work including Balance of Plant and C.W. Systems.

As the Outage Section continues to grow, with major projects already scheduled for 2018, 2019 and beyond the team are looking for suitably qualified, experienced and ambitious individuals. This is an opportunity to join a multinational blue-chip company with all the benefits and security associated with such an organisation.

Reporting to the Engineering Section Head, and whilst on outage the Task Manager, The Senior Engineer is responsible for the technical standards of a project, the organisation of resources, quality and compliance for all aspects of safety. Must have an overview of the whole project and will report to the Engineering Section Head.

The Senior Engineer will be expected to deputise for the Engineering Section Head in his absence or the Site Task Manager.

Principal Accountabilities:

   To have knowledge of all roles and assist with the setting up of an organisational structure for the team to ensure a project is delivered safely, within budget and achieving the quality requirements of    the project

·         Ensure that all staff on reporting to site are made fully aware of their roles and responsibilities

·         Ensure that instructions are effectively communicated to staff supervisors

·         Liaise with the Task Manager and customer to fully understand and agree the requirements of the project

·         Organise, lead and motivate a team to meet the objectives of the project

·         Actively pursue improvements to procedures and policy

·         Ensure that agreed policies and procedures are followed

·         Actively promote a safety culture within the team

·         Actively participate in the daily / shift meetings that take place to co-ordinate site activities and communicate any changes

Organisation:

·         Input and assist with the preparation and project planning ensuring that the plan is achievable

·         Ensure employees comply with the appropriate procedures relating to safety and quality

HR

·         Maintain good industrial relations with the workforce

·         Develop the team and promote on job training

·         Set and agree performance targets for staff 

·         Ensure that company policies are followed

Planning

·         Input and assist with the project plan ensuring that the plan is achievable

·         Execute the plan to the customer’s satisfaction

·         Keep the Task Manager informed of changes to the work that may have planning implications

·         Ensure that all areas of corrective actions are agreed with the customer and are carried out satisfactorily

Technical

·         Have a good working knowledge of various OEM large generating plant

·         Agree the technical standards for the project

·         Manage the requirements of the company QA system

·         Ensure that reports are comprehensive, accurate and completed in a timely manner

Customer management

·         Act as the day to day technical representative with the station

·         Maintain good working and personal relationships with the client representatives on the project 

Qualifications:

·         Should be educated to degree level or equivalent qualification

·         Proven track record of delivering major outage work to a high standard

·         Effective communicator

·         Ability to lead groups of engineers and supervisors

·         Must be prepared to work for periods at different site locations within the UK
