Our client is one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK and a successful player in the UK energy supply business with over 9 million customers. They own and operate the electricity transmission and distribution networks across the North of Scotland, and are responsible for maintaining, repairing and updating these networks.

The Major Projects division is a focussed delivery group responsible for delivering a wide range of construction projects within the UK. As the Overhead Line Section Construction Manager within the project team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the construction of a particular geographic section on a transmission project in Scotland.

Qualifications:

Key duties and responsibilities of the role include:

  • The management and supervision of a team

  • Coordination with tree-cutting requirements/road improvements/ infrastructure diversions and other associated facilitation

  • Effective Health & Safety management of all overhead line construction activities

  • Contract management of established contracts

  • Effective financial control, risk and programme management, to ensure section construction delivery to time and budget

  • Effective reporting arrangements for all activities

 The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in the management of large, high value contracts, preferably in a utility environment

  • Strong and confident negotiation and communication skills

  • Experience and detailed knowledge of overhead transmission line construction requirements

  • The ability to manage, motivate and coordinate multi-disciplined team members and contractors

  • Commercial acumen and ability to effectively manage project expenditure

  • Knowledge and experience of contract terms and conditions, specifically NEC style contracts

  • The capacity to deliver high quality work in a demanding environment
