The Project Section of RWE npower’s Technical Support Group consists of dedicated professionals who can provide multi-disciplined teams for large and small engineering projects through out the power industry, backed up by a large and extensive workshop facility at Ferrybridge. The Section has a history of successfully completing a large number of Steam and Gas Turbine outages internally within RWE Innogy and for external Customers. We strive to deliver safely, on time, within budget and to high quality standards. The Project Section teams travel extensively throughout the UK and Overseas working on large turbo-generators, CCGT’s, Hydro, CHP plants and power plant work including Balance of Plant and C.W. Systems. The Planning Engineer reports to the Project Manager and is responsible for the completion of the agreed work scope to programme, safety, quality standards and budget in accordance with company policy and client specified project requirements. Job Specification: The role will involve assisting and supporting the Project Site Manager in the following manner: • Production of detailed Outage and/or Maintenance Programmes for site work undertaken by the TSG Outage Section • Monitoring and progressing the contracted works programme during preparatory, outage execution and re-commissioning phases of the project • Liaise with Senior Site Staff, Sub-contractors, Ferrybridge Workshops and customer, as appropriate, to determine activity progress and factors which may affect the programme of works • Advise the TSG Site Manager of the status of the current programme and to propose any remedial actions necessary • To maintain optimum execution of the project with regard to Time-scale, Safety, Quality and Cost • To be flexible in supporting members of the site team and in part take on additional roles as required.
The successful applicant will: - • Have a rounded understanding of Microsoft Project and be able to produce and monitor level III baseline programmes with multiple resource allocations • Possess a high standard of general IT skills and be able to use the suite of standard Microsoft Software including ‘MS Office’ • Have a proven ability in proactive project planning and co-ordination of resources • Be highly motivated, have good interpersonal and skills and be able to effectively communicate, both written and orally, with customers and staff at all levels • Be flexible and prepared to work at various locations throughout the UK as required • A Technical background would be an advantage.

Experience in the operation of CNC and DNC systems is desirable.
Experienced in operating manual machines – Borers, Lathes Grinders, Millers.
Extensive knowledge and ability in a heavy engineering workshop environment.
